National Maritime Museum
Editorial Design
"Shadows on the Atlantic" delves into colonial maritime history and explores its impact on people's lives. At sea and on land, then and now.
For the National Maritime Museum's "Shadows on the Atlantic" exhibition, my main project was to design a comprehensive exhibition catalogue/storytelling book using the extensive audiovisual materials produced by Studio Shosho. With a rich variety of materials, this immersive experience actively invite visitors to debate and reflect.
Project Highlights
- I led the layout and curation of the book, focusing on creating a clear, engaging flow for the reader that reflects the journey of the exhibition itself. This involved strategically combining film stills, text, and hand-drawn visuals from the exhibition to highlight the narrative. The book was designed to serve two distinct purposes: as a portfolio archive for the studio and a potential publication for museum visitors. My design decisions, from material gathering to flow, were made with this dual audience in mind. This is also a duo-lingual book with Dutch and English.
- After having completed with the book's prototype, I created a separate visual proposal for the museum.
